SAS inSchool Supports Gates Grant Winners Chicago (June 2001) - SAS inSchool today announced that it is maintaining the server for a suite of educational assessment tools called TAGLIT - Taking A Good Look at Instructional Technology (http://www.taglit.org/). SAS inSchool's efforts are on behalf of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation - specifically, the State Challenge Grants for Leadership Development. The assessment tools help principals and other school leaders gather, analyze, and report information about how technology is used by teachers and students. Developed under the direction of Dr. Sheila Cory for the North Carolina Principals' Executive Program, the application was first put on the web with support from the BellSouth Foundation for use in their BellSouth edu.pwr3 program. SAS inSchool has worked with Dr. Cory to update the application and is now hosting it for grant winners nationwide. "This application is receiving almost 8,000 hits per day," says John Boling, SAS inSchool Director. "TAGLIT is an excellent planning tool for all schools," adds Tom Vander Ark, Executive Director of Education for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. "It provides reliable data that staffs can use to plan for effective technology integration in the classroom and throughout the building."
