SAS inSchool to Release New Digital Curriculum

Cary, NC (June 30, 2003)-SAS inSchool announced today that new digital curriculum for English Literature, Modern European History, and Physical Science will be available for the 2003-04 school year. These products, called Student InterActivities due to their award-winning multimedia design and engaging approach, will join the growing number of SAS inSchool® resources already available for grades 8-12.

English Literature InterActivites address the following topics: Old English, Middle English, Renaissance, Shakespeare, 17th and 18th Century, Romanticism, Victorian Era, 20th Century, and Postcolonialism. The use of audio and images enriches the instruction of these traditional topics, and SAS inSchool's interactive approach engages students in learning.

Physical Science is being expanded to include new web activities and lesson plans for: Changes in Matter, Electricity & Magnetism, Energy, Forces, Motion, Properties of Matter, Solutions, and Waves. Teachers will have access to new web lessons, classroom activities, and projects that excite students about learning the concepts of physical science.

Modern European History InterActivities are available for the following topics: Renaissance and the Reformation, Exploration and Colonization, Absolute Monarchs, Scientific Revolution and Enlightenment, French Revolution, Industrial Revolution, and 19th-Century Movements. Students view short movies on the people, issues, and events related to a key historical question. Using an online organizing tool, they review primary-source documents and audio clips, save passages that support either side of the question, and develop their own analysis.

Available on the Internet by subscription, all InterActivities are linked to state and national standards through Curriculum Pathways®, a teacher planning environment with resources for English, mathematics, science, social studies, and Spanish.

John Boling, Director of SAS inSchool commented, "Our research efforts continue to be driven by curricula needs expressed by teachers. We are delighted to work with educators across the country and, in collaboration with them, design more effective digital teaching and learning resources which address the more difficult topics to teach."
