SAS inSchool's new release offers more time for teaching and learning
Curriculum Pathways® 2006 features new subject matter and better usability

Cary, NC (June 6, 2005) -- SAS inSchool announces the release of Curriculum Pathways® 2006, the latest version of its flagship educational product for teachers and students in grades 8-14. Curriculum Pathways is a web-based planning resource for instruction in the core disciplines of English, mathematics, social studies, science, and Spanish.

The new release includes many enhancements. What were lesson plans are now dynamically presented lessons—627 in all, with versions for both teachers and students. The teacher versions offer a customizable assign page; the student versions provide step-by-step directions, handouts, web links, and objectives—all of which students can use independently or to prepare for class. In addition, a redesigned student gateway more fully supports out-of-class research and review.

"Basically, we've made more content available to the student," said John Boling, director of SAS inSchool. "This facilitates individual, self-paced learning and outcomes, prepares students for class work, provides complete guidelines and milestones for project-based learning, and allows absent students to make up a lesson. The result of this increase in usability is that teachers will be able to spend more time teaching and students more time learning."

New InterActivities have been added in early world literature, civics & economics, and physical science. As always, the InterActivities are directly linked to state and national standards.

Curriculum Pathways is now in use by schools across the country, provided at no cost and with a minimal technology administration fee. Thanks to grants from Bank of America Charitable Investments, secondary schools across North Carolina and rural Florida have access to the technology. West Virginia high schools and Marshall University also enjoy its use due to funding from the Wellman Family Foundation. For nearly 30 years, SAS has remained true to its academic roots by supporting educational causes. That philanthropic mission comes from a belief that corporate citizens have an opportunity to enhance the educational process.

Through SAS inSchool software and its Education Practice, SAS remains dedicated to creating a culture of leadership, authenticity, and accountability in education by providing teachers, administrators, policy-makers, students, parents and support staff with the best tools for aligning resources with evidence-based outcomes.
