SAS inSchool seeking educators' feedback on new software at NECC 2004 CARY, N.C. (June 17, 2004) - SAS inSchool will showcase two new educational software offerings at the annual meeting of the State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA). The educational software provider plans to highlight the recently released Curriculum Pathways® 2005 along with JMP® Intro, a statistical visualization tool designed specifically for use by students and teachers. The SETDA meeting will be held in conjunction with the 25th annual National Educational Computing Conference 2004 in New Orleans. A continuing dialogue between education leaders and SAS inSchool helps provide crucial feedback from those who champion the use of technology in schools. SAS inSchool involves educators in every step of its software development. Curriculum Pathways® 2005 includes new, online educational materials in algebra, earth science, English language, Spanish grammar and contemporary world history. These interactive materials join the growing number of award-winning SAS inSchool® resources already available for students in grades 8-14. SAS inSchool also will announce the availability of JMP Intro software, which gives students unique capabilities to visualize scientific data. "Our research efforts continue to be driven by the needs of teachers," says SAS inSchool Director John Boling. "We are delighted to work with educators across the country and, in collaboration with them, design more effective digital teaching and learning resources - particularly those that address topics difficult to convey through conventional methods." SAS inSchool will hold a drawing at NECC to give away five, 5,000-seat software licenses of its Curriculum Pathways product to SETDA attendees. These licenses, valued at $25,000 each, will enable five winning technology directors a unique opportunity to directly enhance technology-based learning in their respective states. The conference is presented by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), a nonprofit organization that seeks to provide leadership and service to improve teaching and learning by advancing the effective use of technology in K-12 and teacher education. ISTE represents more than 85,000 worldwide leaders and potential leaders in educational technology. NECC is the largest and most comprehensive educational technology event in the world. For more than two decades it has offered education professionals at all levels an annual forum to learn, exchange information and survey advancements in the field. SETDA is the principal association for state directors of educational technology, providing an opportunity for them to work together to improve student achievement through technology. The organization's membership includes educational technology directors and staff members from the departments of education of all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
